Ex-Chelsea full-back offered ‘head of toilet comfort’ role by Victorian Plumbing

Former Chelsea academy starlet Miro Muheim is set to land the most unlikely of sponsorship, ambassadorial roles after falling foul of team rules in Germany.

Britain’s leading bathroom retailer, Victorian Plumbing, has approached Muheim to become its new ‘head of toilet comfort’ after he was axed from German second division side Hamburg for spending too long on the loo.

Muheim revealed that manager Tim Walter left him out of last weekend’s German league fixture after he arrived late for training last week due to spending too long on the toilet.

The Swiss full-back spent four years with Chelsea after joining FC Zurich in 2014 but failed to make a single first-team appearance, before leaving for St. Gallen.

Now aged 24, Muheim joined German second-tier side Hamburg earlier this summer but was dropped for their home win over Fortuna Dusseldorf on Saturday.

Muheim told a UK news website: “I arrived late at the training ground as I had been on the toilet and simply forgotten the time.

“The manager told me straight away after my late arrival that I would not be starting the game. I accepted it, as I had made a mistake – but it was a s**t feeling all the same.

“I have learned my lesson. I won’t turn up late anymore. This was a one-off which won’t happen again. I was ashamed.”

Miro Muheim spent four years with Chelsea after joining from FC Zurich in 2014 before leaving for St. Gallen.

This season, he played for German second-tier side Hamburg but was dropped for their home game and win against Fortuna Dusseldorf.

He has helped the fallen Bundesliga giants go top of Germany’s second division this season, starting almost every game.

However boss Tim Walter axed the left-back on Saturday for the clash with Fortuna Dusseldorf.

The Swiss full-back was approached by the British brand, Victorian Plumbing, formerly fronted by iconic stylist Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, to gauge interest in its new campaign, launched during this year’s Premier League season.

Joe Pascoe, Chief Marketing Officer at Victorian Plumbing, commented: “We can confirm an approach was made to Miro Muheim to help launch a new campaign later in the year as we firmly believe the best people who represent our brand are the ones that love their time on the toilet.

“We also believe that as one toilet door shuts, someone might just open a window… of opportunity.”
