Steve Bruce says his Blackpool side were “a little bit naïve” as they suffered a late defeat against Wanderers.
The Seasiders were caught on the break when Aaron Collins fired home the winner in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
Bruce’s men had initially gone in front through Kyle Joseph’s header but ended up leaving the Toughsheet Community Stadium empty-handed, making it eight league matches without victory.
“Unfortunately, we have done it too many times and it has cost us badly,” Bruce said after the final whistle.
“I think that is three or four times we have conceded in the last minute and it’s something we will obviously have to address.
“We were a little bit naive but when you are on a run like ours at the moment, everything goes against you.
“Their equaliser, he smashes one into the top corner from 25 yards. We have gone looking for the winner, which we wanted to do obviously, but we were a bit naïve with how we left ourselves open to a counter attack.”
Despite Wanderers’ pressure in the second half, Bruce still felt that his side were capable of winning the game.
“To be fair to Bolton, they changed and caused us a few problems,” he continued. “After they equalised, we had a tough time of it but we have had some really good opportunities as well where we have over-hit the pass or haven’t quite made it. That is frustrating too.
“I thought if there was any team who would go on to win it, it was going to be us. But as I said, we have been naïve towards the finish.
“We are 90 seconds away and we give the ball away twice, in an area where we shouldn’t, and got caught.
“We are frustrated as hell but we played very well first half. It was a change of system, we have obviously been struggling in wide areas. It seemed to work, in the first half especially, so we will get ready for Tuesday (against Bristol Rovers).”
The result leaves Bruce’s side 19th in the League One table and a couple of points above the drop zone.
“You just have to keep focused and keep believing in what you do,” the head coach insisted. “We are going through a tough period at the moment but it can change, that is for sure.
“We need to turn it round quickly if we can, and hopefully we can do that on Tuesday. The games are now coming thick and fast again, we need to stay together as a group and try to move forwards.”
