Carlos Baleba was harshly treated with his second yellow card at Bournemouth.

That was Fabian Hurzeler’s verdict after seeing his midfielder sent-off at the Vitality Stadium.

The Seagulls’ head coach appeared to be suggesting the second yellow card, for a foul on Milos Kerkez, should be rescinded.

That is not regular policy – with only straight reds subject to appeal.

Baleba is now set to miss the home game with Southampton on Friday.

He saw his second yellow with Albion 2-0 up as the hosts looked to launch an attack.

His first caution was beyond any debate as he pulled back Evanilson having lost possession.

Hurzeler said: “It can’t be a second yellow card.

“I think it is important to take this second yellow card back.

“Carlos Baleba is a very young player. He has wishes, he has needs.

“He is not only a player, he is also a person.

“This person is young , he didn’t do a mistake with the second yellow card because it was not a foul.

“The first was a clear yellow card but the second was not.”

Hurzeler added: “He wants to play the next game.

“Hopefully the referee will watch the game again and take the second yellow card back.”
