Charges expected in South Side quadruple shooting that killed boy, 14, last month

CHICAGO — The Chicago Police Department are expected to announce charges Thursday in connection to a triple homicide last month on the city’s South Side.

The shooting happened in the 8000 block of South Vincennes Avenue just after 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 25. Police say four victims were inside a residence in the area when two people entered and opened fire. 

A 14-year-old boy, identified as Amere Deese, suffered a gunshot wound to his back and was pronounced dead on the scene. 

A 36-year-old man, who suffered a gunshot wound to the chest, and a 20-year-old man, who suffered a gunshot wound to his abdomen, were both taken to the hospital where they were later pronounced dead.

The 20-year-old was identified as Ladeverett Ringgold.

A fourth victim, a 17-year-old boy was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital in fair condition. 

A police press conference to announce charges in the fatal shootings is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
