Rio – TV Globo’s broadcast on the first day of Grupo Especial parades was harshly criticized by many people. Cristina Serra, a former reporter for the station, was one to disapprove of the coverage provided. Through a post made on Facebook, she mentioned the camera game and questioned the lack of information. This year, the studio set up in Marquês de Sapucaí is led by Milton Cunha, Alex Escobar and Karine Alves.

“Globo’s coverage in Sapucaí this year was terrible. Porto da Pedra entered the avenue and the cameras stayed fixed on the first retreat of the battery for a long 10 minutes while the front committee and wings were already parading. They did the same with Beija -Flower and the Willow. Inexplicable”, she began.

“It treats Brazil’s biggest cultural event as light entertainment. Comments and interviews filled with banalities. There is no reporter on the avenue. There were car problems, people were injured and the public at home was left unaware. I had to look for information on the internet. In a year with such important plots, it is dishonest coverage and disrespect for schools and viewers. I give up”, said the journalist, who announced her departure from the broadcaster, after 26 years, in January 2018.

Cristina Serra was not the only one to criticize TV Globo’s broadcast. During the morning, Internet users harshly criticized the broadcaster on social media. “It’s the worst broadcast in the history of the Special Group! Shameful!”, wrote a profile on X, formerly Twitter.
