Gardaí smash suspected burglary gang linked to multiple break-ins on homes and businesses across the midlands

Two men in their 40s and a juvenile are currently being detained and questioned in connection to a series of burglaries across counties Westmeath, Cavan, Meath, Offaly, Dublin and Kildare.

Three men and a teenager wanted in connection to a raft of break-ins that have seen homes and businesses targeted across the midlands in recent weeks are in garda custody this morning.

The three men, who are aged in their 40s, and their teenage associate, were arrested at a house in Dublin early this morning.

They are being held in connection to an ongoing investigation, detectives in Roscommon are heading up following a recent spike in burglaries across counties Westmeath, Cavan, Meath, Dublin and Kildare.

Uniformed officers from Longford, Cavan and Meath took part in this morning’s planned operation.

Two men in their 40s and a juvenile are currently being detained and questioned in connection to a series of burglaries across counties Westmeath, Cavan, Meath, Offaly, Dublin and Kildare.

The trio are currently being detained at undisclosed garda stations in the north-west of the country under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act where they can be held for up to 24 hours.

“As part of ongoing investigations into recent burglaries at residential and commercial premises in Co Roscommon and offences in Westmeath, Cavan, Meath, Offaly, Dublin and Kildare, Gardaí arrested four people this morning Friday, 27th September, 2024,” said a garda spokesperson.

“Gardaí from Roscommon, assisted by members from Longford, Cavan, Meath, Kildare and the Dublin Metropolitan Region, arrested three males (aged in their 40s) and one juvenile (male) in Dublin in relation to the investigation of a number of burglaries.

“They are being held at Garda stations in the North Western region pursuant to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.”
