The local deputy of Morena, Jose Antonio Hernandez Verapresented in Congress the initiative of amendment to the Electoral Code of the State of Hidalgo to reduce the number of members that make up the councils in the municipalities.
According to the legislator Tulancingo, annually costs the state budget about 300 million pesos the payment of said popular representatives, without counting the salary of the municipal presidents.
Hernández Vera said that the 96 unions in the state represent an annual per diem expense of 34,858,245 pesos, while 900 councils cost 263,379,000 pesos annually.
He pointed out that by reducing said building bodies by at least one half, the resources saved can be allocated to programs and works that can improve the quality of life of people in the state.
The proposal emerged as part of the agenda of PT, Nueva Alianza and Morena and aims to reform sections I, II, III and IV of the Electoral Code of the State of Hidalgo.
How would they be?
Municipalities with a population of less than 30,000 inhabitants will have a relative majority trusteefive relative majority councilors and three proportional representation.
Municipalities with a population of 30,000 and up to 50,000 inhabitants will have with a trustee, seven aldermen and four proportional representation.
Municipalities with 50,000 to 100,000 inhabitants, two trustees, nine aldermen and 5 representatives.
Those with more than 100,000 inhabitants will have two trustees, 11 majority councilors and seven representation.
