A man killed three people on the premises of a shipping company in a town on the outskirts of Athens and then committed suicide on Monday (12), a Greek police source said.

The killer entered the European Product Carriers building and killed two men and a woman, the source said. Later, when police raided the place, he was found dead along with his rifle. According to the news website Proto Thema, Maria Karnesi, sister of CEO Spyros Karnesi, Antonis Vlasakis, the company’s general director, and Ilias Koukoularis, a former captain and employee of the accounting department, are among the dead.

The killer, a 76-year-old Egyptian, was believed to be a former employee of the company located in Glyfada, a spa town near Athens, media reported. The perpetrator entered the premises through the parking lot, as despite having been fired, he still had the right to access the premises.

“According to initial information, he apparently committed suicide,” a member of the police press office told AFP.

Maritime company European Product Carriers, founded in 1979, has a fleet of 35 ships, including several oil tankers, according to the company’s website.
