MJ’s game-worn Finals sneakers expected to sell for seven-figure price tag.

As, arguably, the greatest NBA player ever, Michael Jordan’s basketball legacy has far outlived his career on the court.
So much so that a pair of his game-worn sneakers from the NBA Finals have reached an absurd price tag of $2-4 million at auction.
“Michael Jordan game-worn sports memorabilia has proven time and time again to be the most elite and coveted items on the market,” said Brahm Wachter, Sotheby’s head of streetwear and modern collectables, in a press release (via CNN). “However, items from his ‘Last Dance’ season are of a greater scale and magnitude as seen with our record-breaking sale of his Game 1 jersey in 2022.”
The sneakers come from one of MJ’s final Bulls games and during the infamous ‘Last Dance’ season that many fans got to re-live in the summer of 2020.
So, it’s no surprise that the kicks are selling for so much money given the context, and it really just goes to show you how popular Jordan still is despite having not played a real game in over 20 years.
Michael Jordan Was Feared By Opponents During Legendary Championship Runs
It’s hard to capture the kind of fear Jordan used to instill in his opponents back in the day, but it’s something that many legends still talk about today and it’s part of the reason he remains such a memorable athlete.
In fact, according to one former Heat player, not even LeBron James has been able to capture that kind of aura.
“Nobody fears Bron [James],” Chalmers said. “Nobody’s like, ‘Damn, I gotta go play against Bron tonight.’ Nobody said that. I don’t know why? Because I seen people be scared when they actually line up to him. But they’re not scared thinking about that matchup. You hear anybody from that era talk about going against Jordan, there’s a fear. So when you have people that fear a player, then that’s telling you something different already. Jordan is just that guy. Everything was, ‘I wanna be like Mike.’”
That “fear” is ultimately what helped make Jordan so deadly on the court. No matter how you were, or how good you were, MJ was going to go all-in on making you look like a fool.
And after so many years of Michael torching his opponents, and beating everyone and everything in his path, his legacy ha gotten to the point where fans and collectors are willing to spend millions on objects he wore in a game decades ago.
