The Russian government arrested this Saturday (23) around 11 people involved in the attack on Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk, a suburb northwest of Moscow. According to the Tass news agency, the Federal Security Service (FSB) reported that the accused are directly linked to the attack.

“The activities of intelligence and law enforcement agencies resulted in the arrest of 11 people, including four terrorists, who directly participated in the terrorist attack on Crocus City Hall,” the statement said.

The FSB also claims that the movement was “carefully planned” as the rifles used were “placed in advance in a cache.” So far, local authorities have reported that 115 people have died in the attack and another 187 have been injured, including at least five children.

On Friday (22), a group of up to five people, armed and wearing tactical uniforms, invaded the building and opened fire on those present there. According to witnesses, two explosions could also be heard before the building caught fire. Crocus City Hall was currently hosting a concert by Russian rock band Piknik, whose members were evacuated when the public noticed the chaos.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, firefighters managed to evacuate a hundred people who were in the basement of the place. Emergency services indicated that they were able to control the fire that broke out after the attack, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Classified as a “bloody terrorist attack” by the Russian Foreign Ministry, the attack was claimed by the Islamic State a few hours after the first repercussions. The jihadist group also added that, after “attacking a large concentration on the outskirts of Moscow”, the command returned to base safely. At war with the Russians, Ukraine stated that it had no involvement in the episode.
