After making it to the Super Bowl last season and showing that Kyle Shanahan’s squad might be inching closer to winning a title, the San Francisco 49ers haven’t had a great year in 2024, as the team has been inconsistent while dealing with injuries to some of their best players.
Fortunately, on Sunday, the 49ers got superstar running back Christian McCaffrey back on the football field to play his first game of the season, which is a step in the right direction for San Francisco.
However, the team faced a resilient and tough Tampa Bay Buccaneers team led by veteran quarterback Baker Mayfield, who wasn’t going down without a fight on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium.
The Buccaneers and 49ers were trading blows all day long, leading to the game being decided with a game-winning field goal from kicker Jake Moody.
After the win over Tampa Bay on the road, Shanahan talked about what he saw from Moody during Sunday’s game via 97.5 The Game.
“You’re only as good as your last kick so he did a hell of a job winning that game for us at the end,” Shanahan said.

With this win, the 49ers improve to 5-4 on the season and may be starting to turn things around, especially with McCaffrey finally healthy and back on the field for the storied franchise.
In Week 11, the 49ers will play host to the division-rival Seattle Seahawks at Levi’s Stadium in the Bay Area, which will be a crucial game for both teams hoping to win the NFC West title this year.
