Liverpool will win the Premier League if the latest supercomputer prediction is accurate, with the Reds backed to pip Arsenal to the title by two points.

Arne Slot’s men are currently five points clear at the top of the table after Manchester City suffered back-to-back defeats, while the Gunners are four points further back following their draw with Chelsea on Sunday.

Chelsea, Brighton and Nottingham Forest all have the same amount of points as Arsenal (19), but if the last two seasons are anything to go by, it will be Mikel Arteta’s team that is most likely to be tussling with Liverpool at the business end of the campaign.

And the Casino Hawks supercomputer agrees, tipping Arsenal to bounce back from a recent poor run of form and finish on 87 points after 38 games — two fewer than Liverpool.

Eighty-nine points would not have been enough to win the title in six of the previous eight Premier League seasons, but that tally could well be enough this time around, with City and Arsenal dropping points at a higher rate than usual.

Curiously, it is predicted that Liverpool will lose six of its remaining 27 league games, which is a much higher rate than the team has been losing matches at across the first 11 game weeks (one defeat in 11 matches).

Manchester City is tipped to finish third on 82 points, which would be the third-lowest final points tally of Pep Guardiola’s reign. Chelsea rounds out the top four, with Brighton and Newcastle United finishing in fifth and sixth respectively, and Tottenham finishing in seventh.

Liverpool fans will hope that the supercomputer’s prediction about Manchester United’s final position is correct, with the Red Devils predicted to finish in the bottom half of the table with a record-low points tally of 55.

Southampton may have recorded its first league win of the season against Everton last weekend but the supercomputer still reckons Saints will finish bottom of the pile with just 13 points.

Ipswich also recently recorded its first win of the season, against Tottenham on Sunday, but Kieran McKenna’s side is tipped to finish in 19th place with 22 points.

Wolves and Leicester are both predicted to finish on 27 points with a -36 goal difference, with Leicester avoiding the drop on goals scored, and Wolves heading back down to the Championship after a seven-year stay in the top flight.
