PLAYER RATINGS: How Wanderers fared in the 5-0 defeat at Stockport County

WANDERERS (3-4-1-2).

NATHAN BAXTER…6.

Good to see him back, and without some smart saves this could have been a lot, lot worse. Didn’t deserve the slack defending around him.

WILL FORRESTER…3.

Targeted early on as a possible weak link and Stockport’s pace down their left side caused him issues all afternoon. Not good enough on the day.

RICARDO SANTOS…4.

One glaring error in the first half told you things were not well. Had been one of the players who was poorly in midweek.

GEORGE JOHNSTON…3.5.

One of the players you could usually hang your hat on in a local game to be up for the fight. He took looked muted and underwhelming.

JOSH DACRES-COGLEY…3.

Ill all week, and there was none of his normal zip. Stockport spotted gaps in behind him which could help isolate Forrester and took maximum advantage.

JOSH SHEEHAN…4.

Way off his best. At least took responsibility on the ball, though, even if it was too deep to do damage.

JAY MATETE…2.5.

Completely ineffectual on the day. Played safe with the ball too often and his howler in the second half for the fourth goal summed up the day.

SZABI SCHON…3.

Other than a couple of scrambled tackles, the Hungary international hardly made a dent in either direction. Bolton just couldn’t get him in the game.

JOHN MCATEE…3.

Theoretically the link between midfield and attack. We are yet to see he can really play this position well, though. And this was Exhibit A, your honour.

DION CHARLES…2.5.

Couldn’t keep the ball early on when he dropped deeper, nor link up with Adeboyejo, and as the game moved on, he drifted further and further to its edges.

VCTOR ADEBOYEJO…2.

The stats say he touched the ball 18 times, none of which were in the penalty box. It is honestly hard to believe he had that much involvement.

Subs: Collins 5, 58: Showed at least a little attacking spark.

Jones, 4.5, 58: Not the comeback he was hoping for.

Osei-Tutu 77 (for Schon).

Not used: Arfield, Lolos, Southwood, Williams.

Stockport County (3-4-3): Hinchcliffe; Connolly, Horsfall, Touray; Southam-Hales, Norwod, Bate, Rydel; Collar, Wooton, Barry.

Subs: Adaramola 63 (for Rydel), Hughes 63 (for Southam-Hales), Bailey 69 (for Barry), Fevrier 69 (for Collar).

Not used: Addai, Fiorini, Diamond.

Referee – David Rock 7/10: Turned down a decent penalty shout from Collins in the second half but other than that, it was a simple day for the officials, especially for a local clash.

Attendance: 10,342.

PERFORMANCE – 0/10: Absolutely no redeeming features whatsoever. Once again Wanderers failed to turn up for a game that mattered seriously to the supporters.

MAN OF THE MATCH: Nathan Baxter.

Deserved better defending ahead of him. Back in the side and produced some big saves to keep this from being a cricket score.

MOAN OF THE MATCH: Where do you start? There might have been illness in the camp during the week but that display was unacceptable.

MAGIC MOMENT: The spelling error on the team-sheet which brought into question the quality of Bolton’s socks.

ATMOSPHERE: Wanderers’ allocation had been a small one, and they made themselves heard, especially after the final whistle.
