It is getting very loud in Chicago right now for Bears head coach Matt Eberflus.
After winning a combined 10 games over the previous two seasons before 2024, the former defensive coordinator is getting a lot of criticism.
Through nine games this year, the Bears are 4-5 and are currently riding a three-game losing streak.
If things do not end well for Eberflus this season, ESPN analyst Joe Fortenbaugh believes the Bears should hire a new coach if he is available next offseason.
“If he’s available, the No. 1 candidate for the job in Chicago, if he’s available, Kevin Stefanski,” Fortenbaugh said Tuesday on Carlin vs. Joe.

This would be an interesting move for both sides if it ever came to fruition.
First of all, the Browns have been a big disappointment this season, and that will always be the responsibility of the head coach.
However, starting quarterback Deshaun Watson has not played up to his contract, star running back Nick Chubb was not healthy for a big chunk of the season, and the team did sell two of its better players before the trade deadline in wide receiver Amari Cooper and edge-rusher Za’Darius Smith.
Before this season, Stefanski was regarded as one of the league’s better coaches.
He has guided this Browns team through adversity to multiple 11-win seasons.
That could be a steal if the Bears wanted to bring him in.
The only problem is that Cleveland may not be inclined to let him go after what he has accomplished in his tenure and what he has had to work with this season.
