The Philadelphia 76ers seemed to have one of the more successful offseasons in the NBA, with the team knowing it is in a championship window and pulling out all the stops to bring in another star player to play alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.
Ultimately, the 76ers were able to convince star forward Paul George to leave the Los Angeles Clippers in favor of joining forces with Maxey and Embiid in Philadelphia, creating one of the most talented trios in the league heading into the 2024-25 NBA season.
Unfortunately for Philadelphia, injuries have taken a serious toll on this star-studded squad, with Embiid and George both on the mend coming into the regular season, and now Maxey is dealing with an injury that has kept him sidelined.
As a result of the injuries piling up for the 76ers, the team has one of the worst records in the league at 2-8, with no telling when all three of their stars will be healthy and able to get this storied franchise back on track.
ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins believes that if the 76ers don’t go on to reach the Eastern Conference Finals, it will be one of the “biggest failures” in NBA history via Legion Hoops.
“If they don’t make it to the Conference Finals – at least this season, and that’s the bare minimum – they would be considered one of the biggest failures in NBA history,” Perkins said.

Perkins isn’t shy about sensationalizing things, as it is his job to have hot takes on a daily basis, and this is definitely one of them, as it is a stretch to say this would be one of the biggest failures in NBA history.
Yes, it will be a failure, but one of the biggest in league history is a stretch, especially considering it is due to injuries, which can’t be controlled.
