The AFC South is one of the more puzzling divisions in the NFL at the moment.

In what was supposed to be one of the more competitive divisions out there, there is just one team in the division above .500 and that’s the Houston Texans.

The Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Tennessee Titans are all struggling to play consistent football.

At the same time, the Texans have lost back-to-back games.

Former NFL player and current host Pat McAfee believes the division is still up for grabs.

“The AFC South is wide open,” McAfee said on The Pat McAfee Show as he was chatting with former Houston Texan J.J. Watt.

Of course, McAfee spent his entire NFL career with the Indianapolis Colts so it is understandable that he feels that way.

The fact of the matter is that the division isn’t necessarily wide open.

Houston is unbeaten in the division and has a head-to-head advantage over Indianapolis, the second-place team.

Indy is dealing with a quarterback situation at the moment and has yet to prove that they can become a true juggernaut.

The Texans do have two divisional games on tap over the next two weeks as they will face the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans.

Both of those teams have just two wins.

If DeMeco Ryans and the Texans can take care of business over the next few weeks, the division might be as good as theirs.

They seem to be that much better than their AFC South foes at this point in time.
