British apocalypse survival RPG Atomfall confirms release date

It might not be the full-scale nuclear war that predates Fallout 4 and its recent, fan-made, and highly praised successor Fallout London, but the disaster that gives us new survival RPG Atomfall has still left Britain in a bad way. Scrapping through a quarantined society, you’ll have to face everything from cults to rogue government agencies as you do your best to survive. Previously loosely scheduled for March 2025, we now know exactly when we can get our hands on this next taste of the British wasteland.

Atomfall comes from Sniper Elite creator Rebellion, and takes inspiration from the real-life Windscale fire nuclear accident of 1957. Imagining a much greater escalation of the crisis, it leaves you in a quarantine zone five years on, isolated from the rest of society and forced to fend for yourself. Combining elements of the best survival games and RPGs, you’ll have to scour for supplies and craft what you need to stay alive, all while attempting to uncover the mystery behind the mayhem.

Much of the beautiful British countryside remains intact, but society certainly doesn’t. Raiders and bizarre, masked factions roam the streets. Resources are limited, with guns and ammunition in particularly scarce supply given the setting, meaning you’ll have to rely on melee weapons to get you out of many sticky situations. Talk to the locals, attempt to make allies where you can, and try to figure out what’s really happening.

The Atomfall release date is Thursday March 27, 2025. It’s priced at $49.99 / £44.99 for the standard edition, or $69.99 / £64.99 for the deluxe edition including three days of early access from Monday March 24. You can wishlist it via Steam, where you’ll find additional details on what to expect from each version including pre-order bonuses.

There are plenty more of the best games like Fallout to satiate your need for post-apocalyptic exploration in the meantime. Or look ahead to the rest of 2024 and beyond with the biggest upcoming PC games.
