If you love historically-accurate shooters like Battlefield 1 and V or Hell Let Loose, then Isonzo should absolutely be on your radar if it isn’t already. The World War 1 shooter focuses solely on battles fought on the Italian front between Italy and her allies against Germany and the Austro-Hungarian empire, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a wide variety of modes, weaponry, and battlefields to get stuck into. Well, Isonzo just got even bigger with a huge free update that includes a brand new mountaintop map. The game is also ridiculously cheap right now thanks to a healthy discount.
In Isonzo’s new Adamello expansion, players can now battle it out on what is the highest and coldest map in the FPS game‘s roster. The new battlefield is set 3,000 metres above sea level on the peak of Presanella in the Italian Alps. With icy winds, deep snow, and sheer rocky mountainsides, it’s a very harsh and demanding map that’ll challenge you and your squadron. While it’s not the game’s first wintery-themed map, it’s certainly a thrilling location for Isonzo’s enormous WW1 gunfights.
Speaking of, the expansion also adds two new armaments – the German forces get the Artillery Luger, a fast-firing pistol with a large drum magazine, and the Italians get the Petardo Offensivo grenade for creating some seriously big bangs.
For a limited time, a popular mode is returning to Isonzo too. Ascent transforms the FPS into a daring mountain-climbing game, with a loadout consisting of just a pickaxe, pitons, and ropes.
It’s an impressive amount of new content for a free update, and the great value continues. To coincide with the launch of Adamello, Isonzo is currently hosting a free weekend, so it’s the perfect time to try it if you haven’t yet – or if you’re already an Isonzo enjoyer, here’s your chance to get your friends hooked.
