The MLB season officially ended when the Los Angeles Dodgers won Game 5 of the 2024 World Series against the New York Yankees.
With all of the attention now on the free agent class, it is also award season, when players are chosen to receive various honors including MVP, Rookie of the Year and the Cy Young Award.
While most people will be interested in who wins the major awards, MLB Network analyst Alex Avila recently revealed his own “Good Guy Awards.”
Avila chose Kyle Schwarber of the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League and Anthony Rizzo of the Yankees in the American League.

Both players are well known for their play on the field, but Avila pointed out their accomplishments off the field in their communities as well.
The Phillies DH is the founder of Schwarber’s Neighborhood Heroes, which benefits first responders and military personnel.
The Yankees first baseman is the founder of the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation, which assists pediatric patients and their families.
Avila points out that both give a lot of money and time back to their communities and that they are deserving recipients of his Good Guy Awards.
On the field, Schwarber had another great season for the Phillies, batting .248 with 38 home runs, 104 RBIs and an .851 OPS.
Rizzo batted .228 with eight home runs, 35 RBIs and a .637 OPS.
