Official Statement on Eiichiro Oda’s Health Condition is Alarming For One Piece Fans Who Only Want One Thing Right Now

In the manga world, hiatuses are a common practice among artists, because taking a break to unwind and rejuvenate one’s creative muscles is immensely important. Even Eiichiro Oda does this from time to time, where he would announce going on a break after every few chapters. Such was believed to be the case this time too, when the series went on a break after Chapter 1130 for two weeks.

However, they were taken aback when a recent announcement about a two-week break following an unknown reason started circulating on social media. This made the fans worried, as they started thinking about Oda-Sensei’s health condition and prayed that he would recover soon.

Sadly, their prayers were ignored because an official announcement was shared, which broke down the author’s health and made things look grim, sinking the hearts of the fans.

Update on Eiichiro Oda’s Health Breaks Fans’ Hearts

The manga world was taken by surprise earlier this week when an update following the manga’s sudden hiatus was announced. The series had just returned from a break, and it only published Chapter 1131. Hence, fans had already been stressing out about Eiichiro Oda’s condition, majorly because no official announcement was shared.

Recently, Pew (@pewpiece) shared a post on X, which had the translated version of the official statement by Shonen Jump’s editorial department, which officially confirmed that the manga series will indeed be going on a sudden two-week break, that is, December 1, 2024. The message also stated the reason behind the break, which was due to the mangaka’s“poor physical health condition.”

This broke the hearts of the fans because the frail health of the manga author has often been a major concern among the OP community. Moreover, what makes them worried is how the condition appears to be so grim that the officials were unable to make the correction in time.

The news seems to be a nightmare for the fans because they have often been worried about his health and have even encouraged him to take more breaks, but Oda-Sensei prefers to keep pushing his physical limits.

Hence, fans have again come forward wishing nothing but a speedy recovery to the manga artist, who has been consistently entertaining them for the past 27 years.

The news was shared by The Will of Marco (@TheWillOfMarco), another reliable page for the series, where he asked the nakamas to pray for the speedy recovery of Eiichiro Oda, and the fans left their warm wishes in the comment section of the post. They commented,

Even though the fans were eager to read the newest chapter of the Elbaf Arc, the news of Oda’s health has simply made them wish for his speedy recovery, as they would wait with a smile to celebrate the series’ glorious return, knowing that the artist is in his best physical condition.

After all, the year is not all bad, as the show received a special episode called the One Piece Fan Letter, which has a high IMDb rating enough to eat some of the most popular series. Moreover, the series has received a remastered version of Fishman Island with a remake of the complete series by WIT Studio that will surely evoke some nostalgia among the old fans of the show.

One Piece can be streamed on Crunchyroll, and the manga can be read on VIZ Media.
