Bryce Young was one of the NFL’s most controversial No. 1 overall picks in quite some time.
While he played well in college, many scouts and analysts were worried his game wouldn’t translate to the pros, and that he was too small to be truly effective.
Young’s rookie season didn’t go as well as the Carolina Panthers expected, and in Year 2, Young has been benched for veteran Andy Dalton.
Fast forward to the 2024 season, and the Chicago Bears could have a similar situation brewing.
They drafted Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick, but unlike Young, Williams was considered a general talent, a player who was said to make an instant impact in the NFL.
Williams still hopes to bring the Bears back to their former glory, but early returns have not been the most positive.
As the NFL on CBS recently pointed out, and as Dov Kleiman shared on X, Williams’ numbers are eerily similar to Young’s from last year.

Through nine games, Williams only has 102 more passing yards, the same amount of touchdown passes, a worse completion percentage, and a slightly higher passer rating.
For a player who was said to be Chicago’s first 4,000-yard passer, this has been bad news for the Bears.
Williams is said to have a longer leash than Young, seeing how highly he was regarded coming into the league.
His rookie year just hasn’t been what many would have hoped, and he has started his career on the wrong foot.
Can he recover and turn things around in his sophomore campaign?
