The New York Jets have had a less-than-ideal 2024 season so far.
They have a record of 3-7 and are coming off a blowout loss on the road to the Arizona Cardinals.
After the blowout loss, Jets interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich took it upon himself to take his defense and team back to the basics.
He took the entire team through a tackling presentation this week.
All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner shared his thoughts on Thursday’s presentation with the New York media.
“We know how to tackle. We know how to tackle. We gotta make the tackles. That’s really it…We really don’t need no presentation,” Gardner said.

Sauce Gardner was asked for his takeaways from it…

When the results aren’t coming, something has to change.
Sure, Gardner and Co. know how to tackle.
But they have struggled to get opposing players on the ground, especially receivers after the catch.
New York is not fully eliminated from playoff contention, but another loss could very well be the final nail in this team’s coffin.
The defense, which was supposed to be the backbone of this team this year, has not performed the way Jets fans had hoped.
Now, perhaps that could be attributed to ownership’s decision to fire Robert Saleh earlier in the year.
Ulbrich has had to manage both head coach and defensive coordinator duties, which may have impacted his performance.
The Jets will host the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday in what could be a playoff elimination game.
