Stephen A. Smith has been arguably the most recognizable voice in sports media over the past decade, particularly in the basketball space.
He has shared his NBA takes daily and given fans and listeners an incredible amount of access to him and his opinions on the sport he so clearly loves, but it’s fair to wonder after all these years if he can hold his own on the basketball court.
In a recent video shared on X, via NBACentral, Smith showed clips of a workout he did where he showed off an impressive jumper, draining bucket after bucket from 3-point range and the midrange.

Smith must have missed the memo that long two-pointers have been eradicated from the game, as he showed off what appears to be his go-to move of a one-dribble pull-up midrange jumper to his right, just inside the 3-point line.
It’s an impressive performance considering Smith is 57 years old and has suffered severe shoulder injuries, and we all should hope we can still get buckets like this in our late 50s.
It adds at least a bit more credibility to his NBA hot takes knowing that he can hit jumpers like this, even if the video might have been carefully edited.
Every sports media personality should be required to do something like this before spouting off their hot takes.
Good for Smith, and maybe next week he’ll drop a video of him doing a full NFL Combine workout.
