Well, it seems that Sony allegedly had some big plans for the future of this iconic franchise. Following the conclusion, the company was rumored to add six iconic villains onto the big screens!
Tom Hardy’s Venom 3 Was a Setup?
There have been countless talks of several iconic villains from the Spider-Man and Venom storylines to appear on the big screens. However, these adaptations weren’t so great for the people.
In an interview with The Cosmic Circus, notable insider Alex Perez talked about how there were big plans after the Venom franchise. According to the insider, these things were always transactional.
Due to the failure of Tom Hardy’s Venom: The Last Dance, it seems that people might not get to see some iconic villains on the big screen. During his talks, here’s what Perez said about the future of these villains.
There’s been talk of characters like Silver Sable, Black Cat, Sandman, Rhino, Chameleon & Scorpion all had pitches and ideas for movies. Just now, they’re thinking about Agent Venom for a movie.

And I remember the time when Sony was investing in doing Spider-adjacent films like Jessica Drew’s Spider-Woman and Spider-Man 2099, but they were put on ice. The chances of ever seeing these projects come out is so minimal.
Well, if the reports are true then the world has missed big-time on the iconic villains that could have made it in the MCU. These villains have been fan favorites from the comic book world but, fate plays a cruel game.
Silver Sable, Sandman, Rhino, and more have been featured extensively in comic books. Some of the villains have even made it onto the big screens, but they weren’t well-received. It seems that Sony should have given them another chance.
The Iconic Villains That The World Allegedly Missed Out On
A mercenary for hire, a cat burglar, a man made out of sand, a literal rhinoceros, a shapeshifter, and a scorpion. Surely makes for a great team. Some would even call it a different version of Sinister Six.
According to Alex Perez, the world would have seen characters like Silver Sable, Black Cat, Sandman, and the rest having their solo movies and interconnecting storylines as well.
This could have given Sony the villainous cinematic universe that they so desperately wanted ever since The Amazing Spider-Man franchise. Talks of Michael Mando (Vaas from Far Cry 3) were also discussed on the internet after his appearance in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Although there haven’t been any confirmed reports on this, it seems that the hints might have been in these movies all along. The world wishes that Sony might fulfill its dream and we will have a villainous cinematic universe intertwining with the MCU sometime in the distant future.
Meanwhile, Tom Hardy’s film that might have been the key to this cinematic universe, currently stands at a rating of 6.2/10 on IMDb and 41% on Rotten Tomatoes. The film is currently screening in select theaters around the world.
