The Golden State Warriors scored their second win of the NBA Cup on Friday night when they took down the Memphis Grizzlies 123-118.
Following the game, Green spoke with the press about what winning the NBA Cup meant to him and his team.
Via NBA on X, Green said:
“A lot. A whole lot. It’s an opportunity to win something.”

Green made a very valid point: unless a player lacks competitiveness, they want to win at anything possible.
Therefore, it’s not a surprise to see teams get so excited to compete at a high level in the tournament, now in its second year.
The reviews for the NBA Cup were strong last year because many fans noted that the teams were far more engaged than they usually are so early in the season.
Green stated that’s because players want to play and competitors want to compete.
If there is a chance to be declared the winner of something, NBA stars will pour their hearts into earning that title.
The Warriors have two NBA Cup games under their belts.
They beat the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night and just took down the Grizzlies.
Next up for them will be the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday, which will be a normal regular season game and not affiliated with the NBA Cup.
Still, you can expect to see a high level of competitiveness from the Warriors, who currently hold a 10-2 record.
Basketball fans still have their concerns and questions about the NBA Cup but they love how intensely teams are playing and Green is giving a clear explanation of why they fight so hard.
