For those uninitiated, Nayanthara had recently called out actor Dhanush K Raja for accusing her of copyright infringement over the content she used in the upcoming Netflix documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale. According to her open letter, the makers had been trying to acquire the NOC (No Objection Certificate) to use the content from her film, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan.

The film which was bankrolled by Dhanush marked the debut collaboration of Nayanthara and now husband Vignesh Shivan, for which the visuals were to be used in her documentary exploring her personal life. However, despite requesting an NOC, the footages weren’t allocated to them even after 2 years.

Furthermore, the makers of the documentary decided to make use of BTS footage from the sets of the film which were captured using personal phones. However, it is revealed in the open letter that Dhanush’s lawyers have filed a lawsuit against the actress accusing her of copyright infringement and asking for compensation of Rs 10 crores.

These events are said to have led to the actress’ open letter which has been getting support from various people within the industry. The movie Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, directed by Vignesh Shivan featured Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara in the lead roles.

The romantic action comedy which was released back in 2015 followed the story of a policewoman’s son trying to become a wannabe don in his area by indulging in illegal activities. In the middle of these events, he comes across Kadhambari, a deaf woman who is in search of her father and falls in love with her. The rest of the movie focuses on what happens to them and whether she’ll find her father.
