Former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has sent his very best wishes to Ruben Amorim as the new head coach begins to settle into life at Old Trafford.
Appointed as Erik ten Hag’s successor on November 1, Amorim arrived in England on Monday, less than 24 hours after taking charge of Sporting Lisbon for the very last time.
Amorim, who is still waiting to obtain a work permit, was greeted by United officials after arriving at Carrington. He was then given a tour of Old Trafford later in the week, as well as conducting his first interview as United head coach.

Amorim, 39, will take charge of the Reds for the very first time when they travel to Portman Road to face Ipswich Town in the Premier League on Sunday week. He has inherited a United side that is currently 13th in the standings.
Facing an uphill struggle to lead United to a top four finish this season, Amorim is going to have to try and hit the ground running. And for former United ace Ronaldo, the club is in need of some “luck” after recent failures under different bosses.
“I wish Ruben Amorim all the luck in the world because Manchester [United] needs it,” said Ronaldo.
The Portugal captain, who was born just over a week after Amorim, made the admission after helping his country make light work of Poland in the UEFA Nations League on Friday evening, winning 5-1. Ronaldo helped himself to a second half brace.
Ahead of Portugal’s win over Poland, United released Amorim’s maiden interview as head coach, with the former Sporting chief exactly what he wants to bring to Old Trafford.
Amorim said: “You cannot go 100 per cent on every detail because it will be confusing for the players. So if I have to say one thing, my main goal, my first goal, is identity.”
