Carlisle United midfielder Ethan Robson has been ruled out for another eight weeks with injury.

The summer signing, who only returned recently from a hamstring injury, is back on the sidelines.

The fresh problem rules him out until the new year amid a highly frustrating start to life with the Blues.

Robson, 28, suffered the injury in training on Monday and has since had a scan.

Blues head coach Mike Williamson confirmed the extent of the former MK Dons and Sunderland man’s lay-off following Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Bromley.

“It’s not a re-injury, it’s a different site [from the pre-season hamstring injury he suffered], but it will be about eight weeks,” said Williamson.

“It’s disappointing, but we know how tough he is and no doubt he’ll come back stronger.”

Robson, who is also currently serving a three-game suspension, has been limited to just four appearances since joining Carlisle in the summer.

Williamson, meanwhile, was without both Harrison Biggins and Aaron Hayden at Bromley.

Midfielder Biggins has what was described as a minor knee injury, while illness kept Hayden out of action.

On Biggins, the Blues head coach said: “It’s not too serious. We’re hoping [he’ll be back] within the next week.

“I think it was ten days to two weeks [from the injury] – we’re looking at just a little tweak. We’ve just had to de-load him a little bit, so he should be back soon.”

Hayden was not risked, meanwhile. “He’s just been struggling all week and he still felt really depleted yesterday,” said Williamson.

“So we made that decision to leave him at home. We didn’t want to risk anything.”

In better news on the fitness front, Dylan McGeouch was back in the squad at Bromley having been out for nearly two months with a calf injury.
