MAPPA Can Redeem Itself After Jujutsu Kaisen Scandal If They Reboot a Solo Leveling Rival Manhwa With Godlike Characters Like Sung Jin-woo

Following Season 1’s success, Solo Leveling has made a name for itself as one of the greatest webtoons in the game. While the manhwa has reached incredible heights and the anime is making its mark, Solo Leveling arguably had one of the most hyped and anticipated animation debuts in recent memory.

With many iconic animes coming close to their conclusion, fans are wondering which new manga series would be perfect for their new venture. Several famous mangas have already been animated or are in production by MAPPA Studio, such as Attack on TitanChainsaw Man, and Jujutsu Kaisen. With Solo Leveling’s rising hype, MAPPA could reclaim the top spot by revamping its older manhwa series that made a strong debut and built a huge fanbase.

Can MAPPA Revive Its Previous Manhwa Project to Challenge Solo Leveling‘s Reign?

Solo Leveling‘s success in the anime world shows that manhwa, like manga, boasts compelling storylines and characters that, when adapted into anime, captivate fans and drive popularity. The anime is thriving these days with new content and easily ranks among the biggest hits of the Winter 2024 anime season.

Even for those unfamiliar with the nuances of the Korean webtoon industry, Solo Leveling is well-known for its immense popularity in the manhwa scene. Its expanding fanbase ultimately led to its transition into an anime adaptation.

Owing to Solo Leveling’s immense popularity in the manhwa industry, many anime fans are convinced Korean Webtoons are the next big thing to pose a threat to Japanese manga. While Solo Leveling‘s anime debut earned immense praise, MAPPA had already set the stage by adapting the fan-favorite The God of High School manhwa into anime.

The God of High School had the potential to stand out as one of the greatest anime thanks to its enriching narrative and compelling characters. At only 13 episodes, its debut season was rather short, with many viewers criticising MAPPA’s rushed narrative.

Indeed, MAPPA, the studio behind the adaptation, has done an incredible job with animating these fights throughout the series. Sadly, every series has flaws, and while the action of GoHS is amazing, there are sadly still parts that fall short.

The God Of High School is a martial arts series at its core, and as the story progresses, the martial arts side of it slowly gets sidelined. Unsurprisingly, most viewers were not huge fans of how quickly The God Of High School escalates into nonsense superpower fights.

Despite its flaws, The God of High School boasts a rich story that earned it a place among the greatest manhwa. With MAPPA’s immense popularity and reputation, the studio could easily revive the iconic series, especially after Jujutsu Kaisen’s manga backlash, to give Solo Leveling tough competition.

Solo Leveling Season 2 Trailer Sets New Records

Solo Leveling fans have just received an exciting glimpse of the second season, showcasing thrilling new scenes and intense action in the latest trailer. Though it has only been out for a few days, the Season 2 trailer has already outperformed the Season 1 trailer, showcasing the series’ significant impact and popularity.

While anime fans are celebrating with enthusiasm, the same can’t be said for the manhwa readers. The manhwa has garnered a massive following over the years; thus, the anime not living up to manhwa’s legacy did upset a lot of readers.

Additionally, the recent trailer surpassing its predecessor confirms that fans have lost faith in anime adaptations and no longer expect the production studio to match the manhwa’s legacy.

Solo Leveling manhwa can be read on Webtoons, while the anime is available to watch on Crunchyroll
