Whether they hate the match-up or love it, most boxing fans are tuned in to Netflix’s Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson special fight event. The excitement is through the skies and Netflix servers are taking a heavy toll. Surprisingly, the match offers a pleasant surprise for One Piece fans as well.
The actors from the live-action are present at the live event and this interesting meeting off-set is actually canon to the storyline of Eiichiro Oda’s manga. So, here’s why the boxing match would catch One Piece fans’ attention.
Netflix’s Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson Event Will Surprise One Piece Fans
The Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight will start anytime soon as we speak. Tyson will be stepping into the ring after more than a decade and he’s up against YouTube sensation Jake Paul. The match will be streamed on Netflix, and fans around the world are making full use of their Netflix subscriptions. The hyped event might catch the attention of a completely unrelated fandom, the One Piece fandom.
Joe Manganiello, the actor of Sir Crocodile, and Steven John Ward, the actor seen as Mihawk in the One Piece Live Action have been spotted at the live event as well. Both the actors engaged in a brief conversation and the video of that interaction made it to X as well. Steven John Ward greeted Manganiello, and the Crocodile actor referred to Ward as Mihawk.

Moreover, he also said Crocodile’s iconic ‘Hisashiburidana Mugiwara’ to his co-actor. It seemed like even Ward was caught off-guard by this sudden surprise.
Fans are happy to see the actors interacting with each other and wondering why Buggy’s missing from this canon event. The actors meeting like this is in line with a canon storyline from Eiichiro Oda’s manga, one that we might not get see to in the live-action series.
A Cross Guild Meeting Way Before Its Time
Dracula Mihawk, Sir Crocodile, and Captain Buggy have teamed up in One Piece and call themselves the Cross Guild. However, this match-up happened fairly recently and it’s hard to imagine the live-action adaptation reaching that point.
Before the Cross Guild, Mihawk and Crocodile have been in the same place during the Marineford War, but we don’t have any extended interactions between the two characters. Knowing that we might never see them literally sharing the screen, it’s good to have them interact off-screen. Or maybe the live action has some original scenes to bring these characters together.
So far, the live-action has made many changes and reordered some of the events. This is just another possibility of what could happen in the upcoming season of the live-action adaptation. Many fans wouldn’t have expected to see One Piece actors at the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight. But it’s definitely a pleasant surprise and we’re not complaining!
One Piece Live Action is available to stream on Netflix.
