While the post-Endgame slate has been a mixed bag for the MCU, the cinematic giant did deliver two box-office juggernauts, Spider-Man: No Way Home and now Deadpool & Wolverine. Given the events of No Way Home, fans are reasonably eager to see what the future holds for Tom Holland’s webhead, especially in Spider-Man 4, as many are imploring the MCU to take the character back to his roots.
But before his fourth standalone feature, Holland will appear in the highly anticipated Avengers 5, and it seems, he’ll be doing a lot of heavy lifting in the upcoming Avengers releases.
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Might Be One of the Major Pillars of the Avengers Releases
Speaking of Tom Holland‘s potential involvement in Avengers: Secret Wars, insider Alex Perez (via The Cosmic Circus) feels his Peter Parker will be one of the main focus of the story, given his actions in No Way Home. Considering the whole multiverse fiasco weighs on his decision to undo the events of Far From Home, which kickstarted a chain event, it’s easy to see why the upcoming Avengers releases might heavily focus on him.
Part of the reason why all of this is happening is because of him. Imagine the weight that Peter had to be carrying, knowing that because of his choices, he lost his aunt, he lost his best friends, he lost his girlfriend, he lost any chance of a normal life, and now, on top of that, the universe and Multiverse get to be destroyed, all because he tampered with the Multiverse to try to get people to forget he is Spider-Man. Lots of things to weight on his mind, even for Spider-Man.
Moreover, given his bond with Robert Downey Jr‘s Iron Man in the Infinity Saga, which shaped him as an Avenger, hopefully, Marvel will play with fans’ heartstrings by drawing an interesting dynamic between Doom and Parker.
Tom Holland Shared Promising News About Spider-Man 4’s Progression
Although time will tell what the future holds for Spider-Man in Secret Wars, per the leaked plot synopsis, Spider-Man 4 will feel the impact of the events in Doomsday, which might also revolve around a multiversal crossover.
As for Holland’s stance on where the Spider-Man story is heading, the actor confirmed that he has read the initial draft for the fourth installment, stressing (via Rich Roll) “Writers are doing a great job”
It needs work but the writers are doing a great job. I read it 3 weeks ago and it really lit a fire in me. Zendaya and I sat down, read it together and we at times were bouncing around the living room.
Following the recent success of Deadpool 3, fans are now hoping for the MCU to deliver with the upcoming Avengers releases and Spider-Man 4.
