Just when it seemed like the Jacksonville Jaguars were starting to make progress, the franchise reverted to its old ways.
Doug Pederson seemed to be a beacon of hope and a light at the end of the tunnel.
After a divisional pennant and a playoff win in his first year in charge, some thought the team was ready to become a Super Bowl contender.
Notably, it has all gone downhill ever since, to the point where he might not even keep his job beyond Sunday.
According to Pete Prisco of CBS Sports, there’s a big chance that the Jaguars will fire him if they get embarrassed vs. the Detroit Lions.

Team owner Shad Khan will be in attendance, and he “doesn’t want to be embarrassed,” so a lopsided loss to Dan Campbell’s team might put the last nail in his coaching coffin.
Prisco adds, however, that they will also need to move on from GM Trent Baalke, as the team might find it tough to find a suitable coaching replacement as long as he’s calling the shots.
Doug Pederson is a Super Bowl-winning head coach, but it’s become painfully evident that this team desperately needs a change of direction.
He doesn’t seem to be on the same page with Trevor Lawrence, and with the franchise already committing that much money and resources to their quarterback, they might be forced to double down on him and find someone who can finally bring the best out of him.
