Head of football operations Rudy Gestede insists that Rovers are thinking long-term as they aim to progress.
John Eustace’s men currently sit ninth in the Championship table, three points off the play-offs, following a positive start to the campaign.
Gestede, who took up the role in the summer, says the club are working hard to implement a “clear strategy” but knows it is not something that can be rushed.
“I have been a player so you know that you will be judged every week, I don’t think it is pressure,” he told Chris Gill.
“As a club, it is up to us to define a clear strategy and we know it will not take three or four months to make it happen.
“We need to have the support of the board to make things happen. We need to trust that we can implement it and that what we all put together is going to be successful.
“I hope and believe that we have the time to make it happen. Obviously, results are a big part of it and how we can create the right environment to make sure everybody is at their best on a daily basis.
“If you do it and it is not working, what can we do better and what is not working that we can change to make us better as a club?
“It is constant questioning to see what is working and what can be improved, but we know it takes time to succeed.”
The Academy pathway remains high on Rovers’ list of priorities as the club aims to build on its good work over the years.
When asked what he would view as a successful season, the former striker replied: “Obviously, if you just speak about results it would be to get to the Prem.
“But you have to be realistic. A good season would be to make sure that everybody performs to their best, that all the players are involved and committed to working for the club, that our new players fit in well and are happy to stay and grow with us.
“We also want to bring the pathway for our young players from the Academy, having more training with the first team and fighting to challenge for positions.
“We have got a few objectives from the beginning of the season that we should reach, and the pathway from the Academy is a main one.
“At the moment, we have a few young players knocking on the door and showing to John Eustace they will fight to get into the first team.”
Gestede believes that building the best possible environment off the pitch is key to getting the results they want on matchdays.
“It is a collective,” he explained. “The admin side has to be perfect so that when we are in transfer windows, there are no mistakes, we support our new players the best way possible.
“The catering side, the travelling has to be on point so there are no excuses. It is how we can make the environment the best possible.
“If we manage to do that as a club, collectively… it is not about myself, it is about the club and the people around.
“How can we come together to make sure the club does its best this season… and we will see where we land. But if you support the first team and create the best environment, there is no limit.”
