Saquon Barkley had plenty of reasons to leave the New York Giants.

The team constantly low-balled him, and a clip from Hard Knocks even showed GM Joe Schoen claiming that he wouldn’t pay him as much as he wanted.

Add a Super Bowl contender like the Philadelphia Eagles to the mix, and it was an easy decision.

That gave him an opportunity to go back home and play meaningful games, and he would also make a lot of money in the meantime.

The Eagles gave him a three-year deal worth almost $38 million, and according to Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport, that number could go way up.

He’s looking at $2 million in incentives this season alone, with another $1 million depending on team playoff performance.

Barkley has rushed the ball 197 times for 1,137 yards and eight touchdowns this season.

However, his incentives aren’t tied to touchdowns this time, and it makes perfect sense.

With the Eagles finding that much success with their “Tush Push” play, Barkley and his camp knew that scoring opportunities might be limited in the City of Brotherly Love, so they made sure that his incentives were based on other things, such as total scrimmage yards or All-Pro selections.

Barkley has been as good as advertised since his arrival in Philadelphia.

Conversely, the Giants might consider parting ways with the quarterback they chose to pay over him.
