The Penguin, a show about a man’s reach for the underworld of Gotham, is truly a masterpiece. Showcasing Colin Farrell in an iconic role, Matt Reeves’ universe is reaching newer heights of success and fame.
With Lauren LeFranc hailing the show as the showrunner and writer, fans are now in awe of her skills. With the success of The Penguin, fans are clamoring for this one person to helm every major project set in the Reevesverse.
Fans Want Her to Helm Every Major Reevesverse Project
Before fame found her address, Lauren LeFranc had some experience while working in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Well, The Penguin is her first mega project where she served as a showrunner and a writer for the show as well.
Having a famous show like The Penguin to her name, fans love the way she delves into these complex characters. From the narrowed alleys of Gotham to the power struggle of Oswald Cobb, the HBO show is one of the finest things that the world has ever witnessed.
It was made great with the help of an incredible cast and crew, however, Lauren LeFranc was responsible for a majority of these things with her iconic story. Naturally, fans took to their social media accounts on X to talk about how LeFranc should be given every major Reevesverse project in Matt Reeves’ universe.
Lauren LeFranc needs to handle all the other Batman villain shows in Matt Reeves’ universe like she did the Penguin. Incredible writer and showrunner!#ThePenguin pic.twitter.com/vYE6dM1FaN

Even notable insider @DanielRichtman commented on the post that she should handle the writing for Matt Reeves’ movies as well.
Hell she should handle the writing for the movies too. I really liked The Batman but the script wasn’t really strong imo

Her writing is so clever that even the relationship between Oswald “Oz” Cobb and his mother feels a little bit unnatural to look at. Fans theorized that the Penguin might just have a little bit of Oedipus complex… and they were right.
Veteran director Matt Reeves confirmed in an interview that it was Lauren LeFranc’s idea to create that sort of unnatural feel to it. It was a genius on her part since the relationship felt real and unreal at the same time.
It Was Lauren LeFranc’s Idea For The Penguin
With Oswald Cobb doing everything he can to take care of his mother Francis Cobb, there’s a scene in the show where they both dance in their living room. Although the scene is wholesome, Lauren LeFranc had a deeper idea into it.
In a recent interview with Interview Magazine, director Matt Reeves and veteran actor Andy Serkis sat down for a chat about the Reevesverse. During their talks, Reeves talked about how LeFranc’s idea to create a mother-son relationship was borderline unnatural.
It was Lauren [LeFranc, the writer]’s idea that it came from his mother. She pitched that relationship. And he and Deirdre O’Connell have such incredible chemistry together. They seem to be dancing together, almost less like mother and child and more like… ‘What’s going on here?’
Well, it definitely seemed to work as Oswald Cobb found a redeeming quality about himself while also keeping that disturbing Gotham world alive and breathing. Naturally, The Penguin became one of the most succesful shows.
The show received an iconic rating of 8.8/10 on IMDb and a whopping 95% on Rotten Tomatoes. With 10 episodes to its name, The Penguin is available to stream on Max in the U.S.
