The January transfer window is fast approaching and Manchester United are already being linked with several potential new signings. United brought in five players during the summer to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Ruben Amorim is now the new head coach following Erik ten Hag’s departure earlier this month and will be tasked with seeing the club challenge for major honours, including the Premier League. Amorim’s first match as United’s new head coach will be against Ipswich Town on Sunday, November 24.

The 39-year-old has been in Manchester and at Carrington this week in the build-up to his first Premier League match in charge of United. Here, MEN Sport takes a look at some of the latest United transfer news and gossip that have generated headlines over the last 24 hours.

Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres continues to be linked with a transfer to Old Trafford with many hopeful he can follow in the footsteps of Amorim. Unsurprisingly, given his form in the Portugeuse League, it took Gyokeres just three minutes to find the back of the net in Sweden’s Nations League clash against Slovakia on Saturday evening.

The former Coventry City man raced onto a through ball from Alexander Isak before expertly striking the ball across goal and into the far corner. Gyokeres then returned the favour for the Newcastle striker with his delicate flick resulting in Isak firing home from close range.

With two goal contributions to his name, United, and Amorim in particular, have again been shown just how good Gyokeres is. Elsewhere, United are being linked with a move for Rosenborg midfielder Sverre Nypan., according to TBR Football.

The 17-year-old is expected to be the first signing of the Amorim era when the January transfer window opens. The report claims that Nypan will be available for transfer in January once Roseborg’s season is completed a month earlier.

United are reported to be ready to complete the deal by offering a fee worth £10million that could rise up to £20million with add-ons.
