Carlisle United’s Anton Dudik claimed an assist but it came in a losing cause in his latest loan outing.
The Blues’ young Ukrainian forward was back in the South Shields side for their FA Trophy second round trip to Spennymoor Town.
And Dudik had a hand in the Mariners’ opener as his sixth-minute cross was converted by Will Jenkins.
The hosts hit back with two first-half goals to lead, 19-year-old Dudik having a second-half attempt blocked before being replaced in the 88th minute as Shields lost 2-1.
Next for the Blues forward and his team-mates is a return to National League North action against Farsley Celtic next weekend.
Two of United’s other loan teenagers were in action for Workington Reds on Saturday.
Both Jake Allan and Sam Hetherington were in the starting line-up for the trip to FC United of Manchester in Northern Premier League Premier Division.
Allan was replaced by Jamie Allen on 67 minutes and Hetherington was withdrawn in the 83rd minute for 16-year-old Alfie McDonough as Workington claimed a 2-2 draw thanks to two Steven Rigg goals.
Next up for Reds and their young United loanees – Aran Fitzpatrick missed out through injury – is a trip to Mickleover Sports next Saturday.
