Warzone removes fan-favorite map Rebirth Island just 3 hours after its return

While Call of Duty Warzone prepared for its big integration for Black Ops 6, fan-favorite map Rebirth Island was put on the substitute bench for a short while. Players have been eagerly awaiting its return to the map rotation, and earlier today their prayers were answered. However, after roughly three hours of being part of this week’s Wazone playlist, Rebirth Island has been unceremoniously pulled from the FPS game due to a “map-specific issue.”

We’re only four days into the Black Ops 6 era of Warzone, which sees not only its arsenal of weapons but its movement system, perks, and various other gameplay elements applied to the battle royale game. In comparison to some other transitions from throughout Warzone history, there haven’t really been many major sticking points. Meta balancing will always be a challenge with these huge integrations, but aside from that, it’s been fairly smooth.

With Rebirth Island, though, something clearly hasn’t gelled as well as hoped. The tiny Resurgence map has been around for a while now, but it’s still regarded by many as the best small battleground in the game. The excitement of being able to jump back in and fly about with the new Omnimovement system and level up weapons fast has been high, but Rebirth’s debut in the Black Ops 6 era has hit an unexpected hurdle.

“We’ve removed Rebirth Island from the playlist while we investigate map-specific issues,” a new post from the ‘CODUpdates’ account on X reads. “Other maps and modes remain unaffected.” This was posted just three hours and 13 minutes after Rebirth Island rejoined the playlist at 10am PST/ 1pm EST/ 6pm GMT.

I sadly wasn’t able to jump into Rebirth myself in this short window, but there are countless reports on social media of there being a few technical problems with Rebirth Island – imbalanced audio being the main area of concern. It’s unclear how long this will take to fix, but for right now, you’ll need to go back to playing Area 99 for your Resurgence kicks. Rebirth will no doubt return with these issues patched up, but to see it pulled from the game just three hours after its return due to bugs like these is very disappointing.
