John Stamos has been a true television superstar of his generation, made and bred to be popular by the whims of the industry. The actor’s unspoken and unwarranted charm mixed with his on-point Hollywood persona would often make others wonder about his association with television instead of mainstream movies.
With time, fans began to rally behind the actor for a different reason entirely. Despite his reputation on the line, Stamos never blinked while adapting to the variety of changes and hurdles thrown his way during his career. But now, a seemingly benign act comes back to haunt the actor after his latest outing.
John Stamos Faces Criticism for Publicity Stunt
John Stamos gained global acclaim through the family sitcom, Full House. The series also made actors like the Olsen twins, Candace Cameron Bure, and Dave Coulier a household name in the late 80s and early 90s. The camaraderie and familial ties that were forged on the sets of the series still stand firm, even when a tidal wave of change threatened the fate of the industry.
In his most recent appearance, John Stamos appeared wearing a bald cap in order to support his Full House co-star Dave Coulier when he announced his cancer diagnosis to the world. The trend has recently gained notoriety when a friend shaves their full head of hair in solidarity with their friend’s diagnosis to soften the impact of social embarrassment once their hair begins to fall out.
In his latest show of solidarity and camaraderie, however, John Stamos did more harm than good in front of the fans’ eyes as the actor was judged harshly under public scrutiny. While some appreciate his show of goodwill toward a former co-star, others are highly skeptical of his intentions behind that stunt, whether performed for publicity or otherwise.
John Stamos Stands By His Co-star Dave Coulier
The reaction that arose after John Stamos’ recent social media stunt was bitter and cynical, as the world showed a lack of support and compassion while fans displayed an utter loss of concepts like empathy and restraint. Meanwhile, the two-fold criticism aimed at Stamos’ bald cap incident is more complicated than usual.
Primarily, the criticism is aimed at Stamos’ artificial effort toward supporting his co-star. In cases like these, people are usually known to actually shave their heads instead of only pretending to do so for the sake of filming a video.

if he wants to show actual solidarity he should shave his head too, not just wear a bald cap 😂

This might be the top “touch grass” moment in history.

real friend would’ve shaved his real hair off

Why pose with a fake bald scalp?
Clout.
Not solidarity.

On the other hand, some fans are worried about Stamos losing his lineup of work commitments if he were to commit to a drastic change in his physical appearance (like Ryan Gosling lost his leading role in The Lovely Bones for putting on a few extra pounds).
For now, Stamos is only occupied with a Freevee series set to be an adaptation of Jessica Simpson’s memoir, Open Book. Stamos will play Butch Thorn in the series, a divorced and alcoholic singer-songwriter who finds a way back to his passion alongside the protagonist, Sadie Sparrow, played by Katelyn Tarver.
Full House is available to stream on Max.
