The Philadelphia 76ers could use a hand right now.
Health has been a major issue for Nick Nurse’s team this season.
Tyrese Maxey, Paul George, and Joel Embiid have all missed time due to injuries, and their record shows that.
Rookie G Jared McCain has been a beacon of hope, but this team has been far from the championship contender they hoped and thought they’d be.
Perhaps that’s why Embiid might be trying to recruit one of his former teammates.
When asked about Jimmy Butler, the former MVP called him perhaps the best player in the league right now (via Brady Hawk 305 & NBA Central).
Joel Embiid says Jimmy Butler is probably the best player in the league
“One of the best players in the league. Probably top five. Probably the best actually.”

Of course, we know better than to take Embiid’s words too seriously, as he’s admittedly said many things to mess with the fans and people’s heads.
Then again, he does have a close relationship and friendship with Butler from their days together in Philadelphia.
While Butler is one of the best players in the league, he is certainly not the best.
What he can be, however, is just what the Sixers need.
He gives them another gritty defender and the kind of player who can take matters into his own hands, whether scoring or creating for others.
For years, there have been rumors about Butler potentially leaving the Heat.
Nevertheless, he’s also injury-prone, and it won’t be easy to get him back in Philadelphia, especially after what happened between him and the team.
