Control has some of the best storytelling I’ve ever seen in the medium of videogames. Jesse Faden’s trip into the unknown is a gripping one, and it’s developer Remedy’s design of the setting, the brutalist Oldest House, that keeps me coming back. The documents you find, the level design you explore, and the details you can unearth are unlike anything else I’ve ever played. That’s why I’m excited for Control 2. Lucky me, then, because Remedy has just given us an update on the sequel, and plans for the first game.
As a part of the company’s Capital Markets day, Remedy has revealed an awful lot about what we can expect from the Control series in the future. According to the developer, “Control 2 will be an action RPG,” while the first game will “receive a free update in early 2025, unlocking some previously released content.”
Remedy also celebrates Alan Wake 2 reaching 1.8 million units sold, and adds that the Control Ultimate Edition is coming to Mac devices on Wednesday February 12, 2025.
Information from Remedy’s Capital Markets Day is still being published, so we’ll be sure to update this story when we learn anything else.
Control 2 isn’t the only game Remedy is working on, as FBC Firebreak is set for a day one Game Pass launch. This first-person co-op shooter looks an awful lot like a spin on the Left 4 Dead PvE formula, except it’s set in the Remedy universe that’s also home to Control and Alan Wake.
If you can’t wait for Control 2 and want even more to play in the meantime, we’ve got all the best single-player games and story games to add to your backlog.
