Royal watchers have been buzzing as Meghan Markle made another solo appearance without Prince Harry, this time at an event in Los Angeles. While the Duke of Sussex was in Canada for the Canadian Football League’s Grey Cup to promote the Invictus Games, the duchess stepped out for the launch of a new haircare line she invested in that was co-founded by her friend and colorist, Kadi Lee.
For the affair, Meghan donned a black strapless top by Khaite with a sweetheart neckline, a pair of black wool-blend trousers, and high-heeled sandals by Aquazurra. But it was the former Suits star‘s jewelry that got people talking especially the pinky ring that she proudly showed off in several photos.
Read on to find out what Meghan’s ring symbolizes and how much it costs.
The meaning behind Meghan’s ring
The Duchess of Sussex attended the Highbrow Hippie Haircare & Wellness launch, which was created by Lee, and business partner Myka Harris, on Nov. 14 at Gjelina in Venice, California, and was seen sporting a diamond pinky ring.
According to the jewelry experts at the U.K. retailer Steven Stone, “Meghan’s pinky ring appears to feature a 3-carat emerald cut diamond in a solitaire setting. Due to their long lines, emerald-cut diamonds reflect broader and more dramatic flashes of light and are less fiery than brilliant cut diamonds — they’re also highly symbolic.”
Maxwell Stone noted that Harry’s wife‘s ring was created by celebrity jeweler Lorraine Schwartz and “though there have been suggestions that the ring was gifted to Meghan by a mystery donor from the Middle East, its origin has never been confirmed. Thus, the ring has become a source of speculation –particularly since Meghan wore it on the cover of Time magazine in 2021. She’s since worn it at the 2023 Invictus Games.
“The shape of the diamond’s cut represents stability and strength, which is particularly fitting for Meghan who has faced a series of hardships since her and Prince Harry made the decision to withdraw from the royal family. I’d estimate the ring to be worth $70,000.”
The duchess also wore a piece of jewelry that paid tribute to her two children
In addition to her ring, the duchess also accessorized with a gold and diamond Call on Your Angels pendant necklace.
The necklace features an eye-shaped diamond in the center with two smaller diamond studs on either side. The pendant has Archie and Lilibet, the names of her two children, engraved on it.
The item description on Logan Hollowell’s website reads: “Wear this pendant as a reminder that you are protected by the Divine. Your angels are always with you, call on them when you need protection.”
The necklace retails for more than $6,000. The brand’s more affordable lab-created diamond version sells for over $2,000.
