There are very few online games that hold my attention anymore. My days of being an Overwatch and Valorant zoomer are long gone, and I’ve struggled to get on with newcomers like XDefiant and The Finals. In a world where everything feels somewhat similar – battle passes, daily challenges – I’ve been looking for something new and exciting. Enter Supervive, the all-new brawler MOBA hybrid from Theorycraft Games, a star-studded cast of former Riot devs. Blending fast-paced MOBA action with the drop and loot mechanics of battle royales like Apex Legends, it’s become one of my most-wanted games of 2024 – and now it’s back.
The last time we saw Supervive was during October’s Steam Next Fest, where it surged to the top of the charts and reeled in an impressive 16,887 concurrent players. The Supervive open beta has been on the cards for months now, but the dates were initially uncertain. Following on from its dominant showing at SNF, however, Theorycraft confirmed that we’d be getting our hands on the multiplayer game a little bit sooner – and that day has finally arrived.
But this isn’t just the Steam Next Fest demo all over again – of course it isn’t. The mode pool has been expanded out to include 4-player squads, a 10v10 battle royale, 4v4 deathmatches, and, of course, our beloved duos. There are new storm shifts, including the infamous bullet trains, and there have been some changes to various high-tier objectives.
The evolving item system has also been expanded, with 24 new evolutions being added to the tree. Similarly, Hunters now have Level 3 abilities, allowing you to further hone your specific playstyle. There are 16 heroes on the roster, all of which are unlocked by playing the game.
The Supervive open beta is live now. All you have to do is boot up Steam and dive on in.
