Find out what a body language expert is saying about the Duke of Sussex being better alone than when he’s in public with his wife.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s PR team adopted a strategy over the last few months for the couple to make separate appearances rather than together as they continue to try and reinvent their reputations that really took a hit.
In 2023, after Spotify canceled the duchess’s podcast and pulled the plug on its deal with the Sussexes, a company executive publicly called them “f****** grifers.” The pair then landed on the “Biggest Losers” of the year list and in 2024, they had to combat reports from former employees that Meghan is a “demon boss” who acts like a “dictator in high heels.”
Now, with their separate appearance continuing, an expert has analyzed how differently the duke and duchess act when they’re alone and concluded that Harry is better off flying solo than being “preoccupied” with Meghan’s feelings.
Expert points out that Prince Harry’s attention is always on Meghan when they’re together
Darren Stanton is a body language and behavioral expert with a degree in psychology. He previously worked as a police officer and used his expertise to uncover the truth when interviewing hundreds of suspects. He later moved into media and TV as a consultant and has been dubbed the “Human Lie Detector.”
Stanton has also analyzed the body language of several royal family members over the years and pointed out how Prince Harry always looks so “preoccupied” with his wife and how she’s feeling whenever they appear together.
Speaking on behalf of Slingo, Stanton explained: “With Meghan, his attention is always on her during their joint engagements, making sure that she is OK. We tend to see more of his protective nature than his individual emotion as he puts Meghan’s feelings above his own.”
The duke appears much ‘happier’ during his solo engagements
The expert noted that on the other hand, whenever Harry is solo he lets himself go and we see the best of the prince during his appearances alone.
“Prince Harry here, you can see in his facial expression, his emotions, and his body language, this is an unparalleled height of happiness for him,” Stanton said referring to the duke’s appearance in Vancouver to promote the Invictus Games. “Attending alone, we always tend to see the best of Harry when he’s appearing solo. Harry absolutely comes into his own. He’s got this massive smile, he’s beaming from ear to ear, portraying his enjoyment and his happiness.
“We know this is authentic and a genuine emotion from him. His whole face is engaged, the crow’s feet at the side of the eyes are there. There’s nothing fake about his expression here. There’s a high degree of animation … He’s completely relaxed and focused on what needs to be done. He can focus on being himself and on interacting with those around him.”
