Coaches across the NFL and in all sports love to speak highly of their players, especially their star players, as it is an element of effective leadership to manifest the best selves of the people one is leading.
But one head coach went the extra mile to edify his franchise quarterback.
Los Angeles Chargers Jim Harbaugh is a man who loves to make bold statements, and he called QB Justin Herbert one of the best players of all time at the position, per JPAFootball.
“He’s not only one of the best in the game currently, he’s one of the best of all-time. I do not feel at all like I’m going out on a limb in saying that,” Harbaugh said.

Herbert has some work to do to get to the level Harbaugh mentioned, but he has been having a very solid season.
While his overall stats (2,186 passing yards, 13 touchdown passes and a 63.5 percent pass completion rate) don’t look very impressive, he has thrown just one interception, and his 102.1 passer rating is the best of his career.
Harbaugh’s emphasis on building on offense around a physical and mean offensive line, a strong running game and a suffocating defense has taken lots of pressure off of Herbert.
Running back J.K. Dobbins has run for 726 yards and eight touchdowns through 10 games, and despite some holes on defense, L.A. is giving up fewer points per game than any other NFL team.
In addition, Herbert has helped rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey start to emerge as a possible stud.
McConkey has 43 catches for 615 yards and four touchdowns, and he has perked up lately, especially when he had 123 yards this past Sunday versus the Cincinnati Bengals.
