Not only do the New York Jets hold a disappointing 3-8 record this season, but they have been embroiled in controversy over the past several weeks.
Earlier this season, head coach Robert Saleh was fired during his fourth season, and now general manager Joe Douglas was fired before completing his sixth season with the team.
It seems to the rest of the league that it is amateur hour in New York, and while many have blamed quarterback Aaron Rodgers for the chaos, former Jets offensive lineman Damien Woody placed the blame on owner Woody Johnson.
Referencing a report that Johnson wanted to bench Rodgers, Woody said the owner is too hands-on in terms of personnel decisions.
“Anyone who’s been affiliated with the Jets organization clearly knows that Woody Johnson … behind the scenes does pull a lot of strings,” Woody said on “The Jim Rome Show.” “… There remains one constant why the Jets have remained in futility … that’s Woody Johnson.”

Johnson has owned the Jets since 2000, and during that time, they have made the playoffs six times.
They reached the AFC Championship Game in consecutive seasons (2009 and 2010), but they haven’t been back to the postseason since, which is the longest drought in the major professional sports.
When they traded for Rodgers prior to last season, they expected him to make them legitimate championship contenders, but instead, the experiment has disintegrated into a disaster filled with injuries, miscues, losses and firings.
The thinking is that Rodgers played a role in the firing of Saleh and that the franchise may be catering to his whims.
There are now whispers that Rodgers may move on to another team after this season, and that Johnson’s future with the Jets may be in question as he could receive a job in the new presidential administration.
