The New York Giants recently made a major move by benching starting quarterback Daniel Jones.
Now, it appears they are still keeping him busy at practice, in a unique and perhaps embarrassing manner.
“Daniel Jones spent part of the open portion of practice wearing a red scout team jersey lined up at safety during an offensive install period,” Dan Duggan of The Athletic wrote on X.

The highly paid quarterback played scout team defense alongside some practice squad offensive linemen and assistant coaches.
It appears likely this will be Jones’ final season playing for the Giants.
It is very unusual for a healthy starting quarterback to go from starting one week to playing scout team defense the next.
After Jones was selected by the Giants with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, things have not gone well for the Duke University product.
Now in his sixth season with New York, Jones has led the team to one playoff appearance and one winning record.
In his defense, former Giants running back Saquon Barkey and current wide receiver Malik Nabers are just two of the very few talented players Jones has been able to work with on offense.
He also has had to work with multiple head coaches, currently Brian Daboll, whose return next season also may be in jeopardy.
There has been no stability, and that is not entirely Jones’ fault.
However, his play hasn’t been strong enough for the Giants to keep letting him start under center.
Look for Jones to be on a new team in 2025, with plenty more uncertainty surrounding the rest of the Giants roster and coaching staff.
