The Phoenix Suns were one of the best teams in the early stretch of the NBA season.
Mike Budenholzer’s team got off to a strong start, winning eight of their first nine contests.
Unfortunately, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal have missed games with injuries, and the team has fallen to 9-7, including five losses in a row.
That’s why there has been some speculation about Durant’s future with the organization.
He’s always been involved in trade rumors, and given his age, injury-proneness, and history of perennial discontent with his teams, some thought the Suns might consider moving on from him at some point.
Nevertheless, it seems that’s not going to be the case.
In a recent interview with ESPN insider Shams Charania, Suns owner Mat Ishbia made it clear that he has no intention of letting Durant leave (Via Booker Muse).
Mat Ishbia on Kevin Durant’s future in Phoenix:

Ishbia raved about Durant’s work ethic and how much he cares about the game of basketball and mastering his craft, and he won’t let him go.
When he’s on the floor, there’s no doubt that Kevin Durant is often the best player on the court, even at this point in his career.
That hasn’t translated into NBA championships outside of his tenure with Stephen Curry, but not many teams would be better off without him.
The Suns want to compete at the highest level for years to come, and Mat Ishbia knows that will only happen if Durant is there.
