In recent years, Charlie Sheen’s Two and a Half Men has undergone heavy scrutiny, with its detractors calling out the sitcom for its troublesome themes and prudish humor. Two and a Half Men star Angus T. Jones also chimed in to speak out about his issues with the show after his new-found beliefs.
But prior to his fallout with the sitcom, the actor once spoke in defense of Sheen after he was fired from the show due to his alleged substance abuse issues and his rant against showrunner Chuck Lorre.
Angus T. Jones Was Hopeful About Charlie Sheen’s Potential Comeback
Despite being at the top of his game, Charlie Sheen‘s stint in Two and a Half Man was abruptly cut after the substance abuse controversy and his rant against sitcom creator Chuck Lorre garnered unwanted traction. Although the two would go on to reconcile years later, and the show itself would run for another four years, at the time of his departure, the whole sitcom’s fate was uncertain.
When asked about his stance on the situation and Sheen’s potential return, Angus T. Jones shared that he was hopeful about the Platoon star’s comeback.
I’m hopeful either way. I would love to see Charlie come back. I think it would be great! But.. if Charlie does not come back- that’s how it goes sometimes.
In the same interview, the actor further added that he was content with his journey on the sitcom, stressing that he had no issues with the sitcom’s potential canning in the wake of Sheen’s firing, “I get to have my first year- a full school year without work”. Although Two and a Half Men would secure a few more seasons after Ashton Kutcher‘s inclusion, Jones would shortly cut ties with it to focus on his higher studies, and later came forward to express his distaste for the sitcom.
Angus T. Jones Deemed Two and a Half Men Filth After His New-Found Beliefs
To say that Angus T. Jones isn’t a fan of his work in Two and a Half Men would be an understatement, as in his rant against the sitcom, the actor deemed Chuck Lorre’s creation the work of the enemy, presumably satan. Following his alignment with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, The Rookie star expressed regret over working in the sitcom and urged viewers to stop watching it, claiming (via THR) it’s “filling your head with filth”
If you watch Two and a Half Men, please stop watching Two and a Half Men. I’m on Two and a Half Men and I don’t want to be on it. Please stop watching it and filling your head with filth. People say it’s just entertainment.
Do some research on the effects of television and your brain, and I promise you you’ll have a decision to make when it comes to television, especially with what you watch.
While certain aspects of Two and Half Men haven’t aged quite well and the show itself is undoubtedly a product of its time, saying it’s the work of the enemy is a tidbit too far, even for its biggest skeptics.
Two and a Half Men is available to stream on Max.
