The New York Giants finally cut ties with QB Daniel Jones.

That decision might have a big ripple effect around the league.

GM Joe Schoen vouched for him repeatedly, so having him release him midway through the season isn’t only an admission of guilt but also of failure, and some think he might be the next in line.

Even so, as much as Jones has struggled throughout his career, he will still have a place in the league.

According to a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Baltimore Ravens and Minnesota Vikings have expressed a strong interest in pursuing him.

The renowned insider adds that Jones wants to play for a contending team, so whatever happens in Week 12 might have a big repercussion in his decision once he clears waivers.

Ironically, Jones wouldn’t be an upgrade at quarterback for any contender, so perhaps he should be looking for a bottom-feeding team with a bad quarterback situation where he could actually play.

That fits the bill for the Carolina Panthers, Las Vegas Raiders, or even the Dallas Cowboys.

At the right price, Jones could be a valuable backup, but barring a major turn of events, not much more.

We’ve seen players like Geno Smith, Baker Mayfield, and Sam Darnold salvage their careers under the right tutelage, so there’s still a chance he will turn things around.

For now, however, he will likely finish the season either as a backup or an overqualified third-stringer.
